Allentown and the surrounding Lehigh Valley have all kinds of activities for people of all ages, these are just a few of our favorites.

Jim Thorpe River Adventures

Located in Jim Thorpe, PA, Jim Thorpe River Adventures offers a variety of outdoor aquatic fun. They offer multiple different packages that are tailored to fit riders of all ages. There are the more intense whitewater rafting courses that are meant for outdoorsy people looking for more of an adrenaline rush. There are also the “easywater” rafting trips meant for entire families. These have a few spots of rapids, but are mostly calm water where you can float and relax. Riders are able to get out of their rafts and enjoy swimming in the river if they so choose. In addition to the rafting options, Jim Thorpe River Adventures now offers inflatable kayak rentals. These are great for experienced, or inexperienced, kayakers to enjoy a day out on the water. Jim Thorpe River Adventures has something for everyone and is a great way to cool off this summer.

Becky’s Drive In

Drive In movie theatres used to be all the rage, but as you probably know they have quickly faded a way to nothingness. Becky’s Drive In is one of the last one’s around and has withstood the test of time. It was named as a USA Today 10 Best Drive-In Theaters in 2016. Becky’s is just 10 miles from Allentown located in Walnutport, PA. They usually have the biggest titles that are in normal theaters, sometimes a little after their release. There is a full snack bar where you can buy everything from a meal to a tub of popcorn to enjoy your movie. There is nothing like the experience of pulling up to the drive in, tuning into the radio station, and enjoying a movie the old fashioned way. Becky’s opens for the 2017 season on april 13th and will be open weekends for the rest of the summer, weather permitting.

Lehigh Valley IronPigs

If you haven’t gotten out to see a Lehigh Valley IronPigs game yet, we suggest you give it a try this year. The team is the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies and plays at Coca-Cola Park. They are able to offer a much more personal and family friendly experience then you may be used to at a real Phillies game. There are all kinds of different activities to keep kids and adults alike engaged throughout the game. The players playing here are only a short step from making it to the big leagues, so it is a great opportunity to see some of the future of the Phillies. There is also the unique opportunity to see some of the real Phillies players rehabbing from injury in the minor leagues. In recent years, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and many other Phillies have made stops in Lehigh Valley. The IronPigs usually have one of the top attendance records in all the minor league, so make sure you get your tickets early if you plan on trying to catch a game.

The Lehigh Valley is an area that is full of great things to see and do in the spring and summer seasons. There truly is an activity for everyone with any interest, the above are only a start. The best way to experience all the things Lehigh Valley has to offer is to get out there and start giving them a try yourself!
