Fall Bucket List

 In Blog

You snuggle underneath your blankets, close your eyes, and when you wake in the morning, there is dew on the ground and a crispness in the air.

Fall has arrived.

The days of summer have passed, and a new season is upon us, which means new and fun activities are ahead.

It’s time to pull out the flannel and enjoy the beauty and excitement that comes with fall.

Let’s start with putting something in our stomachs

Apples, pumpkin, and comfort foods, oh my.

  • All Things Apple
      • Get yourself to an orchard and pick some apples because it’s time to make:
        • Apple pie
        • Applesauce
        • Caramel apples
        • Apple streusel
        • Apple cider
        • Mulled cider
        • Apple butter
      • Pick up some canned pumpkin or fresh pumpkin and head to the kitchen for:
        • Pumpkin pie
        • Pumpkin spice drinks (homemade or from a coffee shop)
        • Roast seeds
        • Pumpkin cupcakes
        • Pumpkin pancakes
  • Fall means it’s time for comfort food

Get out of the house!

Need a scenery change, then head outside!

        • Hayrides
        • Corn maze
        • Pick a pumpkin
        • Bob for apples
  • Get Scared:
        • Haunted house
        • Horror movie night marathon
        • Graveyard tour
        • Ghost tour
        • Dress up like zombies
  • Nature at its best!
      • Take a walk in the woods:
      • Listen to the leaves crackle underneath your feet
      • Collect a variety of beautiful colored leaves
      • Catch falling leaves
      • Fall scavenger hunt
      • Pick blackberries
      • Geocache
      • Go camping
      • Hike
      • Jump in a huge pile of leaves
      • Take a leaf-peeping train ride
      • Fall foliage road trip
      • Go bird watching – which way are they flying?
      • Hunt for pinecones

Smile pretty!

Whether they’re just for you or to use as Christmas cards, fall is a fantastic time to take family photos. Get outside and try finding one of these places for photos:

  • A barn
  • On a bridge
  • In a cornfield
  • In the woods
  • On a hike
  • Amongst the autumn leaves
  • A pumpkin patch
  • By water
  • Trees, trees, trees
  • Take advantage of sunsets
  • The local park
  • A wheat field

Get Your Hands Dirty!

Think ahead and plant bulbs for spring flowers. You can do some container gardening on your balcony or patio and in the spring enjoy some beautiful flowers and greenery. Anticipating the beautiful colors is half the fun.

What to plant:

  • Tulips
  • Crocuses
  • Daffodils
  • Hyacinths
  • Grape Hyacinths
  • Snowdrops
  • Allium
  • Irises
  • Buttercups

And if you don’t want to plant for spring, thinking about dressing up your patio or balcony for the season. You can decorate your patio with the favorite fall flower – mums. You can transplant them into containers you have or keep them in the containers you get from your local garden center.

Get Crafty!

Whether you like to craft or the kids do, fall is a great time to grab the art supplies.

Good for Your Soul!

It’s a great time to do something for yourself!

  • Make a gratitude list
  • Start each day with meditation
  • Light a pumpkin spice candle and relax
  • Open the windows

What’s on your agenda for the fall? Grab a pen and some paper; it’s time to make your fall bucket list!
